Let's see, I have long, brown hair. For lack of better wording, my hair goes down to my bra strap. I have a couple layers cut in. It's natually frizzy, thick, poofy and curly/wavy, but I straighten it everyday.
My face is oval-ish, and I think it's kinda long, but idk.
I kinda want to get side bangs, but I'm nervous. I haven't had bangs since I was in pre-school.
If I do, how thick should it be and how long should they be?

Also: any links to picture of people with side bangs would be apprectiated.

My hair sounds exactly like yours! I think mine's a bit straighter, but I, too, wanted side-bangs and didn't really know what to do. I went to the salon one day, but didn't get bangs. I got home and just got mad that I had chickened out and cut my own side-bangs! It was totally unlike me, but they ended up looking pretty good. I didn't really cut them to the side, just straight across then pulled them to the side so they looked like they were slanted, you know? They aren't thick at all though, but not so thin that you can see my forehead. I'd just get it done at a salon - much easier. Go for it! It won't make you look younger unless they do it too short....that would be bad. If you don't like them you can always pull them back away from your face or curl your hair. It makes me look less 'blah'. Let me know if you decide to try it!

Here are my "side-bangs", or maybe they're just regular bangs pulled to the side...I DUNNO. Anyway, hope this is some help.

i think you should try it out. if you dont like it you can even it out like normal bangs. i would start with a minimal cut anywhere from your lower brow to your eye, and just angle it down as far as you like. i think it would probably look better if it were no longer than your chin, kindof like it would be framing your face. as far as thickness, i would take it as no further back as the point of your head where a headband would normally go to. but if your hair is thick already, you should adjust it to your own style. im sure you can find photos in the google image gallery or look in to any of the hardcore/emo/indie "scene" hairstyles that are in right now.
