Please no religious or political rantings - I'm not a Satanist or anything like that (though I would be interested to hear from them in regards to this answer)
Essentially, seeing as Jesus performed miracles - did Satan or the AntiChrist demonstrate anything similar. I'm talking either in the New Testament or in anything in popular culture - like films like The Omen, etc. Actually, particularly popular culture.
Any examples of demonic supernatural powers that the man on the street would recognise - so nothing esoteric - is essentially what I'm looking for.
And if you are wondering, it's for a piece of college coursework, so once again no muslim-bashing etc.

Yep - I'm fully aware they aren't the same guy. I'm looking for popular references (apart from possession which is too obvious) of what they COULD do - even if it's somethig as simple as not entering a Church..!
But keep the answers coming - they are all helpful.
(Just go easy on the 'He Is Coming Soon' stuff guys)

This is an interesting question - I don't think the term "Anti-Christ" is biblical, for a start - Satan was the fallen angel Lucifer, and as such, would not have been a counterpart for Christ and therefore perhaps would not have been able to perform "miracles"? I think the concept of demonic superpowers is the stuff of myth and legend as we're all more interested in the terrible, scary stuff than we are in, for example, someone turning water into wine. Personally, I see the devil as being the darkness that we all have in us, suppressed or otherwise.

Satan is coming back to earth and will perform many miracles in the sight of man. He cannot give life but I bet he's a pretty good doctor. he has high tech. He can make fire come down from heaven. He can do a lot but he cannot actually heal or raise from the dead. God will let him do this for a while and see who falls for his flattery and bribery and magic stunts. Most everybody is going to follow after Satan, believing his lies about being God etc. It will be a sad time for many Christians who will be deceived.
The Holy Spirit will be poured out upon the Earth through the two witnesses, to bring as many as are willing out of the deception. It will be a great harvest. then the True Christ will return and there will be bitter mourning by those who had remained deceived.

If you had watched Omen you know that Damien had power over others that could only be called supernatural! What he did with his power was the opposite of how we might expect Jesus too use the same power! There is always a portrayal of some kind of power for Satan and people who believe He exists will tell you that it's his power that turns you against God, corrupts us with money or power, and is to blame for everything bad that happens.
In the Bible it says The Anti-Christ will seem good, but that his power shall grow. He will have the same Powers that Jesus had so things he does could seem miraculous to us.

I believe the most powerful instance that you may want to look into would be possession. Thousands of people claim to be possessed every year and go through an exorcism. As far I know I do not recall Satan showing anything that would preclude he had supernatural powers other then the fact that he able to go into the bodies of other's and take ownership (although) this is still a huge battle between scientists and the Vatican).
Good Luck on your paper!

First off
the Anti-Christ is not satan
he will (does) draw his power from him though---
his "powers" will center around an ability to circumvent all of the world's psyhical problems (materials and resource management etc) to the place where a lot of the world's problems will just simply -- go away-- and in the religious arena---he will come up with a "miracle" settlement that will see ALL of the world's religious differences (a source of a lot of the world's conflicts and wars) cease to be problematic !!
Scriptures state that he will also have the ability to call down "fire from heaven" which in today's world is an understandable for Anyone that has ultimate authority (which he will be given) !!
And, the world will LOVE him---for he will appear to be the answer for all of the world's problems and strife---and of course he will appear to love all of the world back with equal affection !!

The Antichrist is the servant of devil. because the Son Jesus is a servant on earth to the daddy in Heaven, the Antichrist is a replica of that relationship. The fake Prophet, some have pictured, is a replica of the Holy Spirit.

Hmm.. well there is the whole tempting of Christ; you know in the wilderness? Satan promises Jesus he can do all this ****, and he CAN, but cuz Jesus happens to be divinely good he, understandably, says no.
Also, Ruth Rendall, can't rem the name of the book, something like 'doll' something.. sorry. Well the guy prays to Satan for all these gifts, and he gets them, like asks for wealth and height -in return for his soul.
Finally, there's Dr Faustus (sp) I think, and he does the same: sells his soul to Stan in return for lots of magical powers, which is clearly miraculous. Well that's all I got. Have fun with your project!

There are examples of demonic possession in the New Testament, like Legion who had supernatural strength and in the book of Acts the diciples converted a psychic who could predict the future.

Satan doesn't need to perform miracles. All he has to do is inspire people to design the M25 or invent Turkey Twizzlers and his work is done.
