Then vote for Joe Biden in '08. He's been talking about just that...all 24,000 War on Terror Vets.
I'd never take a cruise...noisy drunks, salmonella, etc.
Also, why were we in Korea anyway...it was hell I am told and is hardly spoken of by our Govt.??? Why is that? Was it a mistake too?

Interesting, because I can also tell you how you will be treated after you serve this country.
I did my time, got out, went to school for free, and got my degree. I am working, and supporting myself.
My father did almost 30 years in the service, worked his way to a Pharm D( Ph.D equivalent for a pharmacist) without paying a penny, and is enjoying his retirement from the military. Is working part time, as his pension from the military covers all living expenses and then some, and this job just gives him something to do and money to spend on whatever.
Not to mention that I got to see the world as a dependant and a service member. I have visited 5 out of the 7 continents, and at last count, 29 countries. Two don't really count though. I went to the USSR in the 80's, and Russia in the late 90's. Same place, but a different name. Two countries no longer exist, Yugoslavia and East Germany.
So, I don't know your whole story, but you get what you put into something. You have to make the system work for you. If you're not going to put forth the effort, and just complain, you will get no where. That is what his country is about.

It's too bad you feel this way. If you are so tired of watching your neighbors going on cruises and enjoying their lives, why don't you stop paying attention to them and take care of yourself first. This is my biggest pet- peeve about people. Always worrying about everyone else but themselves. I have enough going on in my life to keep me plenty occupied than having to butt into my neighbors lives. They go their way every day, I go mine.
I was in the service for six years. Navy. Launching planes off of carrier decks. My father was a career man and did over 20 years, my mother was a nurse in the Army, both my grandfathers, and so on and so forth. The list is endless.
I'm sorry for your pain and unhappiness, but what good is it doing for you to be concerned about others when it sounds like you have alot on your plate already. Take advantage of all the VA has to offer. There is so much more available today than there was when my grandfathers were in.
From the sounds of it, you are severely disabled. You most likely would qualify for an endless amount of benefits from the VA.
Despite how you feel and the negative comment on warning potential "Enlistees", I thank you for your service, and want you to know that no matter how worthless you think your military time was, I appreciate it.

If you are truly 'unable to work" then you should be getting 100% tax free disability from the VA. Also, you qualify for training programs, if you can do something/anything. Apparently you can at least use a PC. Have you considered a home-based business of some sort?
Here's ';what I got"
- A Master's degree
- Training worh over 2 million dollars
- More responsibility at a younger age, than ANY of my friends
- A decent retirement package
- Traveled the world on Uncle Sam's dime
If you were not a Vietnam-era draftee, you CHOSE to enlist, you like me knew what we were risking when we signed up.
Now you feel like you are owed a living. WHAT in your service ever gave you that idea?
I did my job, exactly to preserve our way of life, so others wouldn't have to.
Quit wallowing in self-pity, and being angered at others for their success.

I don't understand why you are complaining about your neighbors going on crusies??? So they can afford it and have a good life.. kudos for them. I mean they are smart and know how to budget their money. I served my military for only 3 years.. and i loved every minute of it.. and i was born and raised a military brat... and loved that so much. I loved seeing the world.. and ofcourse still am seeing the world b/c my loving husband is serving our country right now.. and I couldn't be prouder of him. Yes he leaves me 6 - 8 months of the year and comes home to me and our children. And i may miss him but I know he is over their fighting for us and helping us have a better life. Also the military has paid for my educationa and still is. I have two degrees now thanks to the military my husband is working on his second degree and will be retiring in 12 years... i wouldn't give up this life for anything. And I wouldn't want my husband to get out and do something else.
