First off, the bible never tells us about the "rapture". It speaks of the "taking away", which apparently happens in the blink of any eye, but that doesn't happen until after the tribulation, right before the final wrath. The 144,000, 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes, will witness to the Jews, bringing them to Christ during the tribulation. What you are saying is what the Jehova Witnesses teach, which is simply silly and not in the least biblical.
I guess you could call the "taking away" a rapture, but all these people who think they're gonna be raptured away before the tribulation so they don't have to suffer thru it are gonna be very disappointed. Jesus told His disciples He'd be with them till the end, and some people interpreted that as they wouldn't suffer, which when you consider the horrible ways the disciples were killed doesn't add up, and isn't at all what Christ actually said. Its just incorrect interpretation.

To fully understand this text you have to also read Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy - and the Hairdressers, security guards, film directors, pr consultants were sent first, (sic).
The Rapture This is only a belief among Fundamentalists, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Baptists, and some independents. While almost all other Christian groups believe much more rational beliefs. The concept was popularized since the 1830s, and recently since the 1970s, by proponents of the premillenialist, and in particular the dispensationalist interpretations of scripture. According to these theories, world events indicate that the fulfillment of prophecies of the end times is imminent, and that the rapture could take place at any moment.
Unfortunatly the behavour of certain grouops to fund Irsralie settelers is making events like the bible, and the prospect of world war three more realistic - it as thought they want the world to end - I wish they would just go and leave the world to the rest of us who actually like it here.

144,000 (a set amount from each of the twelve tribes) will rule over the earth, but the number of people going to heaven just to be a part of the Rapture will have no bounds. Some denominations believe that all the dead will be included in this rapture, others believe that the dead are already in heaven awaiting the day, and will not be counted.

By the way....the word "rapture" is not found anywhere in the Bible...look it up yourself. While you are at it, look for the word Easter. That word is only there once and is a bad translation. Should be Passover. Again, look it up.
I just did a quick search for the 144k. This is kind of interesting:

The Rapture, or the second coming of Christ, or caught up and final harvest are all things used to tell us of that final time we are here and in a nano second Gone!! The time before that will be the tribulation. The "prewrath rapture" sees the promise of 1 thess 4:17 and Rev 4:10 being fulfilled just prior to this event. THE CHURCH is kept out of this hour of consummated judgment upon earth, but is present during the earlier segment of the Great tribulation..this according to the words of Jesus in Matt 24:29 On hundred and forty four thousand symbolizes " completeness" multiply by 144 or 12X12 symbolizes the faithful remnant of the old plus the new Israel, that is the church including believing Jews and gentiles. Many people believe and have different interpretaion of the book of Revelation, but its main translation is this...the redeemed in CHRIST are "Translated into heaven at his coming or "in the air" . Before that time it is going to be pretty bad here on earth and thoses who have cursed him are going to see and some will come to know Christ and some will continue to curse him and speak unbelief as some in this post have. God is mercyful but time is running short as of now! and that final time even some believers will have their hearts grow cold, just what the devil wants. Believe me no matter what, hang on to the word of God because nobody said it was going to come with out a fight! but God made a way and Jesus came to finish it and believe me we are going to have the enemy as our footstool, and Jesus and his saints are going to finish this battle.

The 144,000 are a special elite group who have never lied in their lives and not corrupt.
THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES GOING TO HEAVEN. That part of Revelation, has been misread over and over and over. Those 144,000 are Jews chosen for a special ministry. Not that only 144,000 are the only ones going to heaven.
I wish people would read the Bible instead of jump skipping and taking things out of context. There would be a lot less confusion.

Jehovah's Witnesses say only 140,000 people will go to heaven. There are 15 million of Jehovah's Witnesses around the world, so it means just a little part of them will go to heaven anyways. What's the point on being a Jehovah's Witness anyways? Or who wants to go to heaven anyways? When I die, I'm going into the crematory and that's it.

I say that the RAPTURE is a big subject to be thinking or knowing
about. We do not know when, where, and who are going into the
RAPTURE. I think that is why we are here on Earth. To show GOD that we are ready to see him in his presents and live in
his holy kingdom. To give us a chance to think of what to do. But
I think That the chosen ones are picked because they are the best of the best to have the best.
