We were studying that morning, and at around 10, when he was dropping me off home, he asked me if we wanted to go for coffee.

So we went to this Bookstore/Coffee Place, had coffee and a snack, and glanced at some books.

For about an hour we were just browsing, looking at books, laughing at some of the Self-Help books and stuff...

I feel I kind of got to know him, but not so much. Would you guys call this a date??
Oh by the way, he is a real social character with lots of girls, so I don't know if he just was being friendly...

A date has a pretty general defintion. I go on dates with my mom, my sister, friends; those are casual dates. But if you're asking if this was a romantically inclined date, I don't really think so hun. Usually you know you're on a date because the whole idea of being into one another is there (or at least wanting to get to know one another) so you figure you'll head out for dinner or a movie or something together.

If he didn't happen mention anything about you and him specifically maybe he was just enjoying the company of someone. Who knows? See what happens next time. But I wouldn't really call this occassion a date.

Not an official date. Official dates are planned beforehand with an agreed to time and place. This was just "coffee".

It's definitely a start. If he keeps asking you out for coffee or something, then it may lead somewhere. Have fun.

He was trying to get to know you better. I would confront him and ask if he wants to go out sometime.

I would not call that a date miss...If he didn't bring you back to his dorm room and have a mattress rodeo, it doesn't count. Maybe next time...
