You're going to have to be assertive and talk to your landlord nicely about it. Tell him you don't like to complain but you aren't getting any sleep at night.
You never know, the landlord might be more understanding than you think.
THEN, if that doesn't work, call the cops and complain or just give notice and move.
At any rate, you are giving the landlord waaaay too much power. Don't be afriad to talk with him or her. Keep in mind that they need you as a renter just as much as you need them as a landlord.
Whatever you do, don't harm the dogs. First of all, it isn't humane, and secondly, you COULD get in plenty of trouble for it.

You got 3 choices:
1. Don't say or do nothing and let these dog's drive you crazy and for as long as you live there will not get good rest or peacefully living. Hoping that sooner or later you will get use to it and the barking will drown out.
2. Say something to your landlord and maybe he will move them somewhere else at night.
3. Move and find a place with no dogs around and have a peace of mind which leads to a healthy emotional life!

You can spend a lot of money and buy barking collors that will use electric shocks to train the dog. I know it sounds evil but it i sreally humane and wil work to keep them from barking after a while when you take them off. If they bark again leave it on three stright days. Or capture the dogs in a trap and bring them to the pound when the owners are not home. You Can't get in troubl ewith the law if they don't know who did it. :):):):)

First speak to your landlords to see if they can take some action to better curb their dogs...
If they won't, then call the authorities. Whether they're your landlords or not, if their dogs are a nuisance, they're violating the law.
If they try to evict you for complaining about their dogs, sue them for wrongful eviction (and keep track of every expense you incur as a result of any action they may take against you).

You are going to have to tell them that this is bothering you and ask them to do something about it. If they dont take care of the problem you have no choice but to move. By the way keep track of what was said and when and if you have to break a lease and they try to hold your deposit etc..this should be grounds to break the lease. Good luck

Every city has an "Office of Code Compliance". Just call city hall for your city, and ask for "Code Compliance" they have a form you can fill out and submit, and then they contact the owner by letter or phone.

make an anonymous complaint to the sheriff's office when the dogs are barking. if an officer stops by and hears them, he/she may get a warning, and if it happens again, a citation.
