Unfortunately "cult" means different things to different people.

The English word cult comes from the Latin cultus meaning worship.

In one definition, any religion can be considered a cult.

However the most common current definition of cult is a religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.

With love in Christ.

Counterfeit Christianity is probably the best description I can give for a cult. Counterfeit Christianity is an imitation of real Christianity. Bible terms like "Jesus Christ, Resurrection, Salvation, and Atonement" are used by the Cult, but the various cult groups have assigned entirely different meanings to these terms.
Like counterfeit money which is sometimes difficult to detect, so it is difficult to detect counterfeit Christianity, since it looks like the real thing. Experts examining counterfeit money often hold it up to a strong light and look for identifying marks. Counterfeit Christianity also has identifying marks, which can be seen when, held up to an even stronger light, the light of God's word, the bible.
We are at an advantage if we know what to expect from a cult. Cultists are very well trained to appear "Christian", and indeed believe they are the true churches, and you need the deliverance! Therefore, be bold and ask the question, "do you believe the group you represent is the only true church on the face of the earth?"
If they reply that they are, or if they are evasive, making remarks like "Well, every church has a measure of truth but...", you have made an early detection of a Cultist.
Every true Christian, if asked the same question, regardless of his denomination, would reply that the true church is comprised of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and HE (not some organization) is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, (John 14:6). No legitimate denomination would claim that they alone and their members have salvation exclusively, but the cults (the counterfeits) do.

You all have never heard of the International House Of Prayer?
This church was started in Georgia by Sweet Daddy Grace. The members worship him as jesu christ and their god. They are located in every major city. I am sorry to say this is an African American cult or religion because they have their own security force armed with AR-15 that go and prep when "Sweet Daddy" comes to visit.

Here is a website:

you probably did recommend "heed", precise? i'm a former Baptist, now Catholic, so I even don't have any vested pastime in protecting the denomination. yet i will allow you to already know from my personal journey that you're off base in this one. The Baptists church homes are some distance from "personality cults"; for those, you could look to the a lot-hyped no-particular-denomination "mega-church homes", the most well-liked of that are outfitted round the personalities of their pastors. notwithstanding the Baptists? No. man or woman congregations would advance a pastime for his or her pastors, yet that is a some distance cry from cult habit. Been to a Baptist church at present? those persons are all sporting Bibles for a reason; the understand God is their authority, no longer the understand Pastor Goodguy.

Sweet Daddy Madison?
I would be suspicious of any group that included a living human being in thier mantras.

If they are praying thru this man sweet daddy Madison I believe this is a cult. I would not return to this place. Doesn't sound right to me. Sounds like they are out in left field.

Wow. They got it right until they stuck a human in there between you and God. The definition of a cult is that someone is stuck in there between you and God. Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and tore the temple curtain top to bottom, so that you could come to God Himself at any time. Anyone that would have it otherwise is wrong.

IF they are praying through this man it is a cult. God says no man is to be a mediator except Jesus.

This man must have learnt his craft from the Roman priest!
Roman Catholic priestcraft, they are experts at deception.
Catholics in general go to the priest, Christians go straight to God in all matters of prayer.
