Depends on the situation. Most guys won't help unless they know 100% that its their child.
If it is go for child support through court.

If it's his first baby then you better get on him about helping you. Or you could just tell him he helped make the baby then he also needs to help take care of the baby like it or not. And you also might want to point out that if he doesn't spend time with his child now then he's going to be one of those Dad's who will be chasing after his child after they hit their teens. Because by that age he just might be lucky to get a hug or kiss from his child.

Fortunately my state makes it very difficult for dead-beat dads. The state would require him to have a paternity test. Then when that is determined to be a fact, sue him for child support.
If he won't pay up, he gets on a list:
His pay checks can be garnished.
He will be unable to renew his drivers license.
He will be unable to renew his vehicle registration.... and any number of other hardships I'm not thinking of now.
He'd have to pay up... or be in a tough situation himself.

Personally, I would get a lawyer. Time to start paying child support.

that's a loaded question, and it needs a lot more info. if he's your husband or live-in boyfriend, grow up and discuss your feelings and needs and work it out.
if he's just the baby's daddy and you're not involved, well then damn honey, I guess that's life. you can't make a man be a father if he doesn't want to be, trust me I've tried. my guess is this is the case for you. change your plans - quit trying to get him to help. start figuring out what you need to do with your life to make it work for you and your kid. alone. success depends on you. good luck.
