I am a student of Human Resources Management at the age of 50 years. At this stage it is very difficult to catch the lectures and to memorise the text. I am new in Canada. However, I have to continue with fruitful sugestions.

If it is allowed, tape the lectures and listen to them again outside of class. Don't try to memorize the whole book. Pay attention to important terms and major ideas.

Take a piece of paper and fold it in half lengthwise. Put questions that were asked in class, diagrams from your book or class, and terms (from your book or class) on the left. On the right, write the corresponding answer to the questions, explanation of the diagrams, and definitions of the terms.

When studying, fold the paper in half and read the left side and see if you can say the right side. When you have that down, read the right side and see if you can say the left side.

Be sure to write out your study list as soon after class as possible. Another helpful strategy is to tell someone else--out loud--what you learned in class that day. Telling someone else helps cement the material in your mind and points out areas where you need greater clarification or understanding.
