In past relationships it's always the same, great in the beginning then it's terrible. I tend to fall backwards. I end up not wanting to deal with petty things and I end the relationship.
Am I expecting too much or is love just not in the cards for me?

No, to your question (the first part anyway). You just don't have time for the bull****. Who does? Hang in there, a lot of single, children free, women are going through the same thing you are. It is hard to find a decent guy out there. Just keep an open mind though...Nice guys are the ones we often look over.

Maybe you want to look at why you tend to fall backwards and why you don't want to deal with petty things? A relationship does have a lot of petty stuff to deal with---
However, to stay single isn't really that bad. I lost my husband when I was 40 and I stayed single. I can do what I want to, when I want to, and I do not have to listen to lectures....in addition, I don't have to wash his dirty undies and socks, don't have to get up and cook breakfast, I don't have to have sex if I don't want to. I get to enbjoy freedom without being lonely because I do have family and good friends.....

Maybe you need to sit down with a pad of paper and write out the cons and pros of past relationships on your part and the part of the others so you can try to nail down why things went wrong. Then, on another page, write lists of why you need to be in a relationship (do you?) and what you want out of it and what kind of person.

Seeing all of this in front of you might just help you act logically and not on spur of the moment emotions when choosing what to do.

Heck, maybe you would be happier alone.. Or maybe you've been looking in the wrong places.

You could be expecting too much , for sure dating can be difficult as you get more mature, settled in your life...want what you want and are less opt to make sacrifices to stay in a relationship...this happens and is perfectly normal...stop looking for a home run and when you least expect it youll get this fat pitch right over the plate that you can crush...smile and hang in there!

maybe your trying too hard!!!!be your self in the begining not someone you think they want you to be,,,then if it goes bad in the beginning then it aint made to happen wid that person,,,dont live your life looking for a relationship...be happy with yourself,,,,you will find love one day, only god knows which day it will be,,,so just be ready not impatient....if your a single woman among married friends then you mite feel slighted...but you can bet as sure as im writing this some if not all of them are envy of you!!!!!!NOW!!!!NEXT QUESTION????

It could be a bit of both. But I think it has to do with not wanting to deal with petty things.

Are you still in love with their father and comparing? Or are you afraid of getting close again?

relationships are hard work. If your not willing to do the work then get used to being alone.
