Brick is definitely more expensive than stucco.

I live in Texas where brick is made and there are plenty of brick layers, so brick is the mainstay here. I will warn you, however, that water can penetrate brick if it doesn't have a clear waterproof sealer sprayed over it. On a 2 story house I built, hurricane Rita caused the house to flood on the side of the house where the wind driven rain (5" that day) soaked the brick and it came out the back side. Brick rep told me himself! But I'd still go with brick for resale and maintenance purposes. Vinyl sides fades with age and will melt if fire gets near it; and I've seen people burn leaves and melt their siding. Also harbors lots of bugs - especially wasps in all those crevices. Hardie has come on strong around here too, but it voids the warranty if you face nail on the bottom side of lap siding. So I could grab the bottom piece and rip off an entire section easily. Plus, the siding will break if a hard object hits it, like a baseball. Good luck.

Brick without a doubt, but it is well worth the extra expense as it is truely been proven as the best exterior zero maintenance finish on any home
