Theologically the chicken had to come first. If the egg came first there would be noone there to properly sit and take care of the egg or see after the young chick.

Therefore the Chicken came first.

From a theological standpoint --- probably the chicken since it would have been created with the ability to reproduce.

From a godless standpoint --- the amoeba, it evolved into something that hatched into a chicken, or was it something that evolved into a chicken to lay an egg, who knows.

GOD. Then the chicken I guess since the earth, Adam and Eve were all created (according to the Bible) "with the appearance of age" , but you should ask GOD to be sure.
One thing I can say for sure is that I am glad that the frying pan came along before I got here. (Of coarse that is not exactly from the "theological standpoint")

The Christians say the egg, the Jews interpret the egg as a metaphorical construct, the taoists say that the egg is an illusion, the Buddhists find both answers equally relevant and irrelevant, the Sufis use this debate as an excuse to party, the Shia say that it's the chicken, and the Sunnis say that the whole question is preposterous (bismillah).

In reality however, it is the rooster.

Judaism teaches that God created the world and furnished it with animals and plants that were full grown and ready to be enjoyed by mankind. Therefore, one can conclude that it was the Chicken who came first since the egg would need care to incubate and grow to be healthy.
