Does not the account in Genesis say that Jehovah God created the Heavens and the Earth?
We don't know what his plans are for the heavens, we only know about his plans for the earth, to be a paradise.
So for now, those beautiful planets and stars that fill our night time sky's, give us light in the dark and fill our imaginations with delightful wonders.

God made the Stars and planets (Genesis).
The part that twists my brain with this is that God is everywhere in every time zone in space ... so is there a centerpoint for the Universe ... most scientists conclude that there is a "Big Bang" marking the center of existance ... but other scientists argue that space has not pattern.
Some religious philosophers have pondered if we're the "Body of Chirst" could we be as small as atoms and actually part of Christ? Then would that make Christ super large? Then we would understand that the other planets are just part of Christ too. Just a possiblity that has not been answered by God the Almighty yet. Fun to ponder though.
Scientifically, we can look inward (into cells, & atoms) infinantly ... and we can look outward (into space) infinantly as well too.

well I think we have the large gas giants like Jupiter Saturn Uranus and Neptune to take the hits from comets and asteroids and to keep the earth safe
each planet is very different and they help us to see how unique the earth is and what a special gift it is. there are 1000mpr and up winds on the gas giants, acid rain literally... on venus.. on mercury you cook to death half the time and freeze to death the other... freezin pretty much on mars and the outter ones... only th earth has liquid water, is in the right place for life, has a large moon for tides and has a clear atmosphere to appreciate the rest of the universe
the vastness of space speaks of the vastness of God and it was made for His glory... to make much of HIm... not to make much of us

We think the world was created for our pleasure. Judaism teaches that, truthfully, God created the Universe to sort of establish a manifestation of his greatness. It was all intended to show his glory. When he was finished, he realized what was the point of such a beautiful world with no one to enjoy it, so he created man.
So you see, really we are just a secondary issue here.

Because the universe is part of one great natural system. Many planets are uninhabited, but there are also countless worlds out there with civilizations and peoples like our own.
