If life seems jolly rotten, there's something you've forgotten, and thats to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps, don't be silly chumps, just perse your lips and whistle thats the thing

I follow Asatru, the worship of the Norse Gods and Goddesess. As it is so old there isn't much text, but we have a sort of code of honor of Life Values called the 9 Noble virtues.
Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Industriousness, Self-Reliance and Perseverance.
They are easy enough to live by and don't ask the impossible.
I use these, I did a firewalk for charity a year ago which required plenty of courage and I was honored to have had the oppurtunity as I raised £130. for a children's charity which went to disadvantaged children in Mexico. Once I have had my baby I intend on doing a skydive to raise money for young carers so they can go on trips and generally get a break from their duties at home as carers. I get the strength to this from the virtues and knowing that I am making a difference. I also believe that it is these experiences that will make me a wise elder one day.

There is a verse in the book of Proverbs which says, and I quote ... ''A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.'' What a beautiful way of saying be kind and loving towards one another.
Proverbs 22:6
''Train a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he shall not depart from it.''
Proverbs 10:21
''The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
Proverbs 27:21
''The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; and a man is tried by his praise.

Well, I'm agnostic so I don't really have a religion per se but I find a lot of my spirituality from song lyrics. Here is some from the John Mellencamp song "Peaceful World":
Racism lives in the u.s.a.
Get hip to what martin luther king did have to say
I dont want my kids being brought up this way
Hatred to each other is not okay
Well Im not a preacher just a singer son
I can see more work to be done
Its what you do and not what you say
If you're not part of the future then get out of the way

I am catholic and a friend asked me why in this day and age when there are so many ways to prove things with science and physical, tangible sights i still believe in something that i have not seen with my own eyes.
I remembered how Jesus reacted whenever the poeple begged him for miracles. when he healed people, it was reluctantly. when he raised lazarus from the dead he did it "with a deep sigh straight from the heart"
This is because he was so upset that people just weren't getting the point of believing in the word and weren't loving God. they wanted proof; signs that he was telling the truth. but that's not the point of faith. faith is believing. blindly. without questioning or reasoning or analysing.
faith is love - and everyone, anyone, can experience love. dont try to rationalise it, or even prove it, just FEEL it.
then you'll be satisfied. the way true believers (of whatever, god, buddha, green aliens...) are satisfied. safe in the knowledge that they can feel love.
the lyrics from nature boy spring to mind now! the greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.

Well, I'm not Wiccan (per se)... I'm a Reconstructionist Pagan. But, some of the teachings in Wicca I have kept...
Know Thyself
Keep your thoughts and words straight (I like this one, I just rarely come across as "straight" lol)
Treat others as you want to be treated (Universal teaching)

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Sorry, but this is the best I can do for your safety and warning!

I'm not Christian, but I was raised in that religion. Here is one verse I've kept with me, and I wish more people would remember.
1 John 4: 7-8
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

This doesn't necessarily come from my "religion" but it's inspirational to me and to many others:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves,
"Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in all of us, in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
from "Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson
