If I get a credit card and don't activate it, will it cancel itself out after a certain amount of time and will the unactivated card show up on my credit report?

If you dont activate the card it will not cancel the card with the creditor. it will be open and just no activity on the account sometimes its creditor decision they can cancel it as a credit abuse if its been 2-3 yrs and you never used it so do use it once a year. Unactivated card will show up on the credit report by law as 0 balance. I hope this answers your question.

No. If you don't activate the card when you receive it, it will not appear on your credit bureaus at all. But the credit inquiry that took to get you approved for that particular credit card will remain for 2-years.

The technical answer to this question doesn't matter. Your should ALWAYS cancel any card in writing and request written confirmation. That is the ONLY way to be sure the account is closed.

It will not automatically cancel. If you have no intentions of using it, just cancel the credit card.
