It hurts really bad but I suggest you do it cuz i did it. It hurts to lay on it for like a month. I got it when I was like 11 (now 13). My friends who think they are all tough say it doesn't but it does. It gets infected easily. Don't go to claires do it at piercing pagoda it is better. Claires is cheap trash. When you buy earings for your cartiledge you have to buy both earrings not just one. When you get it pierced it feels like somebody punched you (with impressive force I might add!) with fire knuckles but it goes by really quick. You'll need to twist it everyday or it'll DEF get infected. It looks cool though. DON'T pierce up ure whole ear, it looks horrible. When you buy an earring for ure cartiledge, try to make it match with some of the natural colors on your body like if you have blue eyes, buy a blue earring. You do that because you normally don't change it 4ever because it's hard to look at the back of your own ear. I didn't cry, I actually laughed. LOL ♥ good luck with it if you do!

When the pain starts, the ear is already done being pierced.
Pain is different for everyone, of course there's going to be a sting but other than that it's ok. You should really read up on it before you get it done though.
Edit-
Claires isn't suppose to pierce anything except lobe so if they do, they're doing it illegally. That's what I was told a while ago anyway.

yeah.. it hurts! i have 4 of them. but whatever you do DONT DO IT AT CLAIRES! go toa professional pierc shop.tattoo shop. and have them use a nede. it is just as quick. if not quicker than a gun and causes way less trauma and pain! i can shatter the cartilage. and could lead to cartilage collepse.. please get it done at a professional studio! its the best way especially for cartilage! it will heal faster and be less painful in the long run compared to the gun that they use... a professoinal is TRAINED and claires. what are they a cashier that practice on a plastic ear adn post it notes! i would get see the professionals.. any day..

I have had two friends get their ears peirced at Claire's and they said it felt like a quick ting of pain and then it was gone. picture this.: it hurts less than a bee sting and hurts more after the peircing... be brave.... you will thank yourself for it... it is worth it.. i totally support you and wish you good luck :) of course, I am talking about the bottom of the ear. the ear lobe.. not the top

You should actually get it pierced at a tattoo or body piercing shop. When they pierce with piercing guns (like at Claires) it shatters the cartiledge which hurts more and takes alot longer to heal, versus piercing with a hollow needle which goes in smoth and clean!!

Ive had that pierced and my nose pierced twice and my ears pierced twice and i honestly have never felt a bit of pain !!! People are always saying "of course its gunna hurt your putting a hole in your body" but i didnt feel anything.
However after it was pierced i couldnt lay on my side for like 2 months because i wasnt use to it yet.
And i suggest at first get a round ring and after 3 weeks (or however long they tell you you can take it out) change it to what you want.
And if your straight remember to get it on the LEFT side !!!

NEVER GET CARTILAGE PIERCED WITH A GUN!! You will end up with keloid bumps that cannot be removed short of surgery. Spend the extra $10 and go to a body piercing place. It will also hurt less to use a needle.

it does hurt, to a certain extent. it hurt me twice as much as getting my ear lobe pierced. but it's only minor pain. oh and don't get it done at claire's i got my cartilage pierced about 4 months ago at claire's, with a gun, and it still hasn't healed. it's not infected. it's improving but it's taking forever. get it done at a body piercing shop or your doctor might be able to pierce you.
