okay, there's this guy that i'm friends with. we're just friends, even though i kinda like him. anyways i hug him sometimes and he doesn't do anything, not push me away, or hug me back. he just stands there.

Even once i asked him, i said "do i get a hug?" and he said "sure" and smiled at me but still i hugged him and he just stood there and let me hug him. he didn't push me away. he still didn't hug back.

what does this mean? why is he doing this?

btw, he doesn't have a gf, he doesn't like any1 right now, blah so that's not why he's not hugging back.

but what do YOU think??

yes his family doesn't hug him a lot, just to let you know since every1 seems 2 be saying that. :( his mom is dead by the way...she died 2 years ago, when he was 11

I think he likes you because he doesn't push u away and lets u hug him, but he just doesn't know how to return his feelings because he doesn't hug u back. Probably he is not in tune with his feelings and doesn't know how to express himself.

Here are some points:

1) I think he's probably attracted to someone else or the other sex. Meaning, if you're a girl, he might like guys.

2) he might like you but he doesn't know how to express himself

3) he doesn't like you intimately but doesn't want to hurt your feelings by telling you.

4)He's confused

I think you should continue hugging him and if he doesn't hug back, just ask him why? If hes truly your friend he'll respond and wont get upset.

Hope I was of help.

seems to me to be one of two things: 1) he wants to be seen as "available", and if he hugged you back it might suggest to any onlookers like he had a girlfriend (or maybe he is promised and just isn't saying that to anyone, or maybe he has hopes of getting together with a certain person and it's not you). or 2) his family weren't huggers. I was going to add the 3rd thing that he might not have come out of the closet yet, but I didn't want to be mean or suggestive.

I am guessing he doesn't feel the attraction with you, although he likes your friendship. He doesn't push you away because he does not want to hurt your feelings.

Or he is perhaps just unsure about the consequences if he does hug back. Maybe he doesn't want to lead u on.

There are guys who are huggable and guys who are like "no hugs I'm good". This friend of yours is not a huggable guy. Just because he doesn't hug you back doesn't mean he hates you. If he did then you wouldn't be one of his close friends. If you still aren't sure then ask him why he doesn't hug you back.Good luck to ya!!!

He probably knows by now that you like him. So he is checking you out. Back off and see if he will be the first to hug you.

Maybe he's not a demonstrative person. Some people just don't get into hugging no matter who the person is.

Maybe when he walks he doesn't swing his arms so he doesn't know how to raise them up to use them. Give him a lingering, unexpected kiss on the lips next time and if this doesn't get limpy to shift to the left next time, don't hug him anymore.

Keep hugging him - he is probably just unused to physical shows of affection...do his parents hug? One day he will just hug you back!
