If you have the faith of a tiny mustard seed you can ask the Spirit of God into your live. Love develops over time, when you learn to trust in God and know that He is faithful and loves you.

The two go hand-in-hand. The Spirit of the Living God IS love itself. without love there's no Spirit. If there's no Spirit there's no love. So yes, to answer your question you DO need love in order to receive the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of God -- the Holy Spirit -- is not asked in. No one seeks out God, what were you thinking, read Romans 3:11 a little more carefully.

The HS does not need your authorization to change your heart. He just does it. You receive Christ, you don't have to sign for him.

christ said if you love my father you will keep his commandments, christ also said that we are to love one another as he has loved us. the bible quotes that if you have every spiritual gift to teach and preach prophesy and everything else you still have nothing if you do not have love. it can be found in the new testament . I know some people make it but impossible to love them but we are to treat them as though we do . We should love the sinner but hate the sin. TOUGH? if we really try God will consider it perfect. this is scriptural also. What is love? I have learned is that love is SACRIFICE. Put God first everybody else second and yourself last. Christ once said that "the least in heaven is the Greatest in heaven . The training ground for that is right here right now. FROM SWINDLED

1 John 4:7-12
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us

So, from that I gather that we must also Love.
