A bacteria called streptomyces. If you don't brush your teeth often enough you will smell it and taste it and it is a bacetia that is normally present in the mouth. Good oral hygiene brushing, flossing and even gargling with mouthwash will minimize the bacteria that causes bad breath odor. Brushing your tongue also helps get rid of it.

I cannot believe this wasn't emphasized more. Virtually all bad breath comes from the TONGUE. If you brush your teeth and rinse your mouth, you could still have disgusted breath within a couple hours, easily. Brushing the tongue lightly, or better yet, getting an electric tongue cleaner while brushing, followed by mouthwash will abolish bad breath.

While true that if you just brush your tongue, some bad breath can come from other things, it's not nearly as prominent as the tongue. The one exception is if you eat something very offensive, your burps will smell foul, but that is only burps, and not all the time.

A strong breath mint or gum typically removes the odor causing agents from the tongue or masks them for a period of time, if you can't clean it at the moment.

cavities can cause bad breath...a cold can too and also if your stomach is like tore up can cause bad breath too...if none of these i said are the cause then it has to be the way you brush your teeth .....you need to floss, and brush and be sure to brush your tongue ,a lot of people do not know this and germs can accumalate on the tongue..You need to brush in the morning and floss and also in the evening, sometime you can,t at nonn, but twice per day is fine....also what you eat such as anything with onions are garlic....For a quick fix,you can chew on a twig of parsley or suck a little lemon and that will do in a quicky..

I think the bacteria is called streptomycin. Sometimes it is also caused by the bed bugs that crawl in your mouth while you sleep...well I hope this helps.
