We don't take long roadtrips, maybe 1.5-2 hours one way for vacation. But we take cold sandwiches, sparkling water, soda, and Sunchips or Chex Mix.
There are absolutely no stores or fast food places on our way to the resort.

Things that DO NOT require napkins.
Crunch and Munch, Pringles, granola bars, fruit roll ups, cereal bars, etc.
Also don't forget bottles drink that you can throw out when you stop for gas.
