"Grocery"... Cats cannot be inside the stores because of health regulations that prohibit that; however, some store managers allow people to give their kittens and puppies away outside in the front of their stores.
The best place to get a cat, however, is at your local shelter or humane society. They make sure the pets are healthy, vaccinated and altered (spayed or neutered) before you take them home so you don't have to do that. (A cat you might get from a box in front of a grocery store could be sickly, unvaccinated, and most probably not altered.)

there are more cats then dogs. both can be gotten in many places. but i never heard of buying them at a groshry store..but you learn something every day..check the humane society or local dog pound as then you would be saving an animal from almost certain death. check the newspapers as there are a lot of people who just want to give them away for free..or you could buy one ..the call is yours...there is no shortage of cats and they will be your friend for life. all nine lives

Find a cat at the grocery store??? Like a cat you want to take and make a pet or are you (sickly) searching for packages of ground feline in the meat department??? If you want a pet, go to your local animal shelter. If you're searching for food, ewww, gross.

I would say go to a shelter that houses unwanted cats and kittens. I also suggest that you use spell check before you submit your questions.

I don't know about grocery stores, but I can tell you that Sarah, my little girl, was found abandoned, shivering, and starving behind the gas station that I frequent.

Try the pet store. You can adopt one that needs a home. Usually cost a fee to do it.
