yea, I hit a cat one time and a racoon another, a few rabbits, some birds, so yes I have, maybe you hit someone's pet and that is the reason for the bananna in your exhaust.

I wasn't driving, but I was with a friend going about 65 mph on a very dark and secluded part of a two lane Kansas highway. A very large dog was standing in the middle of the road -- no warning -- no room to swerve one way or the other. It was caught up under the tires and killed instantly, I'm sure.

It was a horrible experience for both of us, and there was nothing we could do for the dog. It would have been very unsafe for us to try to get out and do anything.

This happened in the days before cell phones. We just had to keep going. We still talk about it -- and we still feel bad about the dog. But there was absolutely nothing that we could have done to change what happened to him.

I hit an owl standing in the middle of the road way out in the country at 3 AM. Didn't even slow down. The following night we camped under a tree and owls pooped on my tent. True story.

Yes, it would have been unsafe for me to stop. This isn't to say that I wasn't concerned for the welfare of the animal, I was very upset, but it would have put my and other drivers' safety in jeopardy had I slammed on the brakes.

Your lucky if the cops aren't anywhere. lol But yeah it's bad to hurt an animal its like taking a life out of someone or something. I ran over a dog with my bike once and guess who ended being hurt? Me. The dog was A+ fine, I guess nature teaches us a lesson not to run over animals, even by accident.

Once, a possum, it came right in front of the car. I couldn't stop and it didn't move. The sound of it under the car was horrible.

yes. It was a wee birdie and I knew I could not help him. I saw the feathers fly and felt sick to my stomach but there was nothing I could do. Made me sad.

sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do. what are you gonna do? go out of the car and give it CPR? If you are feeling stressed, or even guitly about this, you shouldn't be. hittting an animal is no big deal.
