See a physician ASAP. If you are right and it is a vein, you could have a thrombophlebitis (a vein with a clot forming). This would need to be treated to keep from pieces breaking off and ending up in your lungs (a bad thing). If a professional decides that it is an inflamed tendon, the there is no danger or rush and simple treatments can be provided.

It could be a hematoma (vein that ruptured). Veins return blood back to the heart, so the swelling could be caused by that. One positive note, is that it's in your palm and not a more serious area.
But...based on your previous history and family history, I suggest seeing a doctor.

Your palm is fatty and the veins are not near the surface. Unless you're talking about the back of your hand, it's probably a flexor tendon. Either way, you should have it checked out.

Go to the Emergency Room. You don't know if it's a serious problem or not. So, to be on the safe side, check it out immeditely. Don't take any chances. Since you're not a doctor, seek one out and trust their advice.

i have that also:) it hurts when it or bumped? like death pain!!! i have a blister or bump on it also. did you hit it on something? It maybe the damaged vein filled with water or fluid from the impact of the hit to it... hang in there. put some alcohol on it to dry it out
