i'm surprised there is so much aggression on this issue. i'm sure that you would be more sympathetic if you were in a situation where you had to get help in the form of benefits whilst you find your feet. surely the reason why we pay income tax is because we live in a civilised society, and those with money should contribute to those in need. i could understand if this was a deliberate attempt to scam money from taxpayers but the truth is, sometimes we end up in unexpected situations, would you rather she was on the streets? oh,but wait, then she'd make the place look untidy....

might i also point out that these "foreigners" will actually be supporting yourselves and the economy in 60+ years time as the low birth rate in the uk means that in time there will be more pensioners than children. immigrants are a necessity to the overall economy of the uk.

As far as I know, she'd be entitled to have her rent paid (to a certain amount), roughly £50 per week in income support if she's not working, About £80 per week in tax credits & about £15-20 per week in Child benefit. Take no heed of the British hitlers down below. If they called their patriotic British plunderers back from all over the world, the UK economy would sink within a week.

I'm sorry, but there's an awful lot of people from elsewhere and one of the first thing's is How much can I get?.
The thing is, and that goes for the a lot of people from Britain as well. If there is NO stable relationship where the partner would help support a child then there should be no children and that's that.
With all the different types of contraception these days there is no excuse for having a mistake. Unfortunately having a child can often is seen by some people as a meal ticket for the next 16-18 years. Yes, I know some people will view what I say as horrible, but there are people out there who do want a meal ticket in life... Yes, I do have children (10 & 6) the difference is I am married and we didn't have children until my wife and I decided we could afford it. We didn't think how much will we get from Government?

I agree with some of your extra comments regarding immigrants and attitudes toward them.
At the same time, I understand the concern about immigration at wholesale levels. My sister in law's work involved immigrants from Eastern Euro countries. A few were nice, but the majority were horrid.
As far as benefits, I would help her call local government and ask directly. I doubt there will be all that much for her, however.
Good luck,

I do not pay income tax to support a woman from overseas. To come to the UK and milk the benefits system. I work 6 nights a week to support myself and partner and cannot get benefits for anything. Whilst paying 33% taxation. For UK citizens OK but fed up with supporting unmarried mothers from abroad

there grow to be a time at the same time as people bred like rabbits and purely crammed the recent baby into what area they'd extremely than anticipated to receive a clean and larger residing house paid for via some different person. you ought to discover mum dad and four or 5 youngsters all residing in a room with shared centers or perhaps 2 households sharing a room. I'm amazed that you are surprised at the aggro your question has raised. The country is sick and tired of foreigners coming here and expecting the government to pick up the tab for their children. What really hacks me off are those women that just come here to have their babies and hike back to their own country when they are born, and I am not talking about commonwealth women either.

Your friend is entitled to nothing, from the tax-payers in this country. She should have acted more responsibly in the first place, and not had un-protected sex with the possibility of pregnancy, if she was not in a financially secure position where she could afford to have a child. Why should I have to pay to feed and clothe her child? When you receive your hard earned wages every week, how would you feel if when you got home you had to go straight into your neighbours` house and give her half of your wages, so she could stay at home and have babies from men who didn`t even care enough to finance them him-self. That is what we are all doing every week, but because WE don`t have to actually give money from OUR pocket, we don`t think of it in that way. Tell your friend to go back to her family and her country, and see if they will look after her. The tax-payers are sick to death with picking up the `tab` for young irresponsible women. I would like lots of children, but ( even with a good job) I can`t afford it, so I do not bring fatherless children into this world. For other people to support.
My Grandmother would have told these women to tell their men to `tie a knot in it`

What a bloody cheek, in this country if you don't want to get pregnant you wont get pregnant, send her back to Bulgaria, let her people look after her, yet another f*cking blood sucker, I see she has pulled the wool over your eyes, get real and stop defending another bloody immigrant benefit seeker.

Let the man that she allowed to get her pregnant pay he,not the government, had sex with her.Pregnancy is a condition not an illness. Its something she had a huge part in.tell her to get a job or make the father(if she knows who he is ) pay for the child. Why do women that have babies they cant afford expect someone else to pay for it ? In any country !

Take a cheap flight back to Bulgaria. Last time I was there, it seemed quite civilised. But then, I wasn't looking to cream their government or taxpayers.
