Since I was little, I've always said that, someday, I'd like to adopt at least one child (and I'd also like to have my own biological children). However, I am not planning on getting married. I don't really believe in marriage. I'm only 18 and may have a change of heart about marriage in the future, but for now I don't really think marriage is for me. I was just wondering if a single person or an unmarried couple can adopt.
Thanks in advance :)

I know I'm not allowed to adopt at 18 and even if I were, I wouldn't because I'm still in college...I'm just asking for future reference :)
But thanks anyway :)

At age 18 they will not allow you to adopt. You need to be at least 21, unless it is a sibling if your parents have passed away. Single women and men adopt all the time, but you have to be able to show that you can afford to raise the child on your own.

purely as stable a guy as a woman. If he's met all the factors and can be a stable determine, I see not something incorrect with it. i'm quite sick of all the sexism revolving around parenting. like it fairly is by some skill basically ideal for females to be single mothers and dads and that it fairly is *SUSPICIOUS* if a guy needs to be a determine. some females are purely stressful with all this paranoia against adult adult males. I hate to declare this, yet I style of believe Shane up there - presently, the courts very almost universally area with a woman in custody matters, no count if she's extra qualified or not. completely able, loving fathers are in reality kicked out of their little ones' lives for NO reason different than their gender and a bitter, vengeful ex-spouse. Mrs. Doubtfire, all people? per risk in the present day being a single determine by way of determination IS the ideal way for a father to guard his rights to confirm his little ones and characteristic an element of their existence, using fact mothers and the courts valuable are not doing an exceedingly stable activity of that.

Yes single people can adopt. At your age right now it might be a bit difficult unless you own your own home and have a fulltime career going for you. Marriage isn't for everyone,

It depends on what state your in.
You can look up federal laws at:
www.laws.adoption.com
www.adoptionservices.org
State laws at:
www.law.cornell.edu/topics/Table_Adoption.com
You can also look up local adoption attorneys at
www.lawyers.com
I know this is doesn't really answer your question, but its a good jumping point to start your research
Good Luck
