I would put his cage outside and leave the doors open (obviously take the other 3 out). If you have another cage, put the other birds in there and put them next to the cage to see if they can lure him back. That's what I've read in bird books, I hope it works for you.

Yes, maybe. There are things you can do to get him back. There are some really good articles, I will put links down at the bottom.

Mainly, either put your birds outside where he can hear them vocalizing or make a recording of them and play it. Set up a cage to catch him. Some people use a sparrow trap. Some people use a cage within another cage or a cage with a partition down the middle. They put another bird in one side of the cage and the other side is open where the bird can come in. Rig the door so you can close it when it comes in.

Also, put a cage with food in it on the roof.

Alert your neighbors, vets and pet stores. Post flyers. Post it on lost bird lists and in the paper in the Lost Pet section.

Good luck. I lost one yesterday and am working on getting her back .

My parakeet flew out the door when I was 11. My parents let me put a lost/found ad in the newspaper just to make me feel better. A few days later a man called and told us his kids had seen the bird in a tree shivering in the rain and they caught it. The bad thing was that after that it never acted the same. It was really wild and mean even though it used to be nice. It also had continual mite infections despite our medical efforts (which granted may not have been great given that i was 11). Finally Sugar was put out of his misery when one day he was perched on the alarm clock cord and chewed thru to the wire. We found him still clutching it swinging upside down.
So yes, i would say don't despair! You may get him back.

I'd say it's unlikely, but then again, ya never know! Try bird seed and water next to the cage. I find that parakeets also really like "honey sticks" which you can probably get at just about any pet store. Just a piece of advice, I'd clip the other birds' wings. Just make sure ya know how or you could seriously hurt them! Good Luck!!!

Your chances are pretty slim, but you should still try. Put the empty cage outside and up high for the bird to see. Put food and all of his/her favorite toys around it. Get a tape recorder and tape your voice and the other birds singing and playing on there. It might just be what brings your baby back. Hopefully there have been no breezes to carry him/her away. Good Luck! :(

I'm sorry for your loss and am very doubtful that your bird will return. Sometimes, leaving the cage accessible and open helps, but that would require the others having another cage. After 48 hours, it's doubtful. Perhaps, you may consider taking steps to prevent this from happening in the future. Best wishes.

He might come back when he hears the chirping. Keep looking outside to see if you see him. And you might put some parakeet seed outside your window. That could be another lure.

Sure....put the others near a window"open"....and put some water and food out so it can see it (but where cats won't get him )and he should come back ( most birds won't stray far from the flock) getting him back into the cage may be a little bit tricky!!! Good luck!!!

I suppose that is possible. You should probably try leaving food out for him too and watch for him with a net. I think a lot of parakeets actually don't come back. I hope you don't live in a cold region.

You should place you parakeets cage outside. You should place it out with food in it because your parakeet will get hungry, and will have to get some food. When your keet goes in the cage to eat, thats your chance to get him back.
