My friend works at the hospital and the night I was having my baby one of our friends new bf was admitted for something(at the time he was her patient he was not dating our friend). While filing his chart he admitted to having HIV. About three weeks later at my baby's welcome home party our friend shows up to the party with her new beau. My friend the RN new his status and hopes our friend knows. She wants to know should she tell our friend and break patient confidentiality or should she hope he did the right thing?

If she does breatk the patient confidentiality, she will lose her job. I think that it is best if someone else who knows. How did you find out? If she told you, she can lose her job. If you happened to overhear it, you may certainly be the one to tell her. That is what I would do. You would be helping 2 friends then, not just one.

No she should not break patient confidentiality. She is a professional. If she has any concerns she should approach the boyfriend and causually let him know that she hopes he is up front with so and so because she is a good friend.

Thats ludacris. I would tell her. I would say I overheard it at the hospital. Some people dont care if they have aids or stds and will continue to spread it. I hope that this is not the case.
If you were my friend I would want to know. I wouldnt care how I heard it. This is a matter of life and death!!!!!!!!!!!!

you have to be crazy,you dam right im going to tell my friend I hope she keeps it a secret and say something like before we become sexually active we need to be tested but to hell with the code **** save a life.people these days are evil you don't know what his motive is and I would not wait to find out, what does he have to lose if he has sex with her unprtected(nothing).I know he may be an honest guy and feels like I will tell her only if we become more serious but it's better to be safe that sorry.tell tell tell
