If she does breatk the patient confidentiality, she will lose her job. I think that it is best if someone else who knows. How did you find out? If she told you, she can lose her job. If you happened to overhear it, you may certainly be the one to tell her. That is what I would do. You would be helping 2 friends then, not just one.

!What a dilemma. A deadly disease. Ethics involved and a possiblity of even a law suit. It is possible for him to sue her, the hospital fire her and it could destroy your friendship. A letter is totally wrong. Since he now knows that you are all friends, the most upright thing to do is talk to him, remind him she works at the hospital and that she is aware of his condition and hope that he has informed your friend and are taking precaution. If he is someone other than that one thing you all like, tell him that . "You really think they are great together, she's so happy....etc."

No she should not break patient confidentiality. She is a professional. If she has any concerns she should approach the boyfriend and causually let him know that she hopes he is up front with so and so because she is a good friend.

Thats ludacris. I would tell her. I would say I overheard it at the hospital. Some people dont care if they have aids or stds and will continue to spread it. I hope that this is not the case.
If you were my friend I would want to know. I wouldnt care how I heard it. This is a matter of life and death!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, and No.
She should mail an anonymous message to your mutual friend about the HIVstatus of the guy she is dating. This way she isn't jeopardizing her job.

She should definitely tell your friend. Is a simple moral code for medics more important than your friends life?
