It makes no sense to sort trash if it is going to be processed into raw material so why is this an issue here? The trash can be in any form and still be suitable to be reduced to basic raw material as good or better than anything found in natural settings. Why does everyone say it isn't so? Its just a matter of good engineering and development.

Some materials will not decompose and others will. Like foam for instance will not decompose and therefore must be separated. That which will decompose does become raw material. Hope this helps you in some way.

If you are really interested there are plenty of books which could give you a better explanation than I can.

You never know what you can do with trash so it is good practice to get in the habit.
