My fiance and I decided to get married on the 24th of Feb. In reality, our wedding isn't for another year (feb 23rd 2008) in Maui, Hawaii.

The reason is getting married now is the benefits in the military of his pay double almost tripling which will pay for our renew vow in Maui next year.

We don't need to establish recidency.
No blood test or anything of sort.
Marriage license easy to obtain with no appointment.
Don't have to have a witness (as they can provide one)
For those who don't want family or don't have much family to attend.
Can have an expensive traditional wedding there, no just "Elvis or drive throughs".
The chapel is inexpensive, good quality.
Have a high class resort that my mom has a share in that we are staying at with my sis/bro and mom while there, 2 bedroom suite.
Old enough to game in vegas and it is an adult event.

People go to Las Vegas to get married because it's a lot cheaper and a lot less stressful than making all those wedding plans. You also don't have to have a quicky wedding out there, you can plan a really nice event at a hotel. You still have to get a marriage license in the county where you are married.

We did not have to establish residency to get married in Las Vegas, the marriage license was very easy to obtain, no blood tests are required. You can have any type of wedding there you want, from the Elvis impersonator, to an elegant candlelit service. Weddings can be as cheap as $40.00 to thousands, depending what you want. Its also a great place for family to meet up, as many families are now spread all over the US.

It's not as easy as it used to be in Vegas. You need to establish 6 weeks residency before you can marry there. I don't think that you need the blood tests though.

-Some people go there to elope
-Some go to have a memorable wedding
-Some go because it's also a good place to honeymoon
-Some want to get married in one of the many wedding chapels there (some historical, some in new casino/hotels)
-Some do it if relatives are against the wedding
-Some do it as they don't want a religious ceremony--but still want a big wedding

It's a marriage capital--like why do so many people honeymoon in Niagra Falls?=honeymoon capital

depending on the type of wedding people want, vegas weddings can be quick and cheap. but they are also a non-traditional and fun/adventurous way to get married. and not all vegas weddings are your average drive-thru/elvis wedding chapel/spur of the moment wedding. some of them are very elegant and planned out and expensive. vegas is more than just a bachelor/bachelorette party destination.

Because you don't have any blood tests or waiting periods. You don't have to provide a witness (they provide you for one).
There are muh of wedding chapels on the strip, take your pick.
They even have drive through weddings. All legit.
