so there are many religions. i am a believer in christ. however can someone explain spirts/ghosts to me? some have been said to haunt hotels or haunt schools that once were cemeteries or a place where the spirit once resided while alive. so how do u explain ghosts comingback to these places if there is heaven and hell, wouldnt they justgo there and not reappear in their once lived places. like say they died accidentally or with regret.

My church tries to tell me that any ghost you see is a demon immitating a departed person.I have to disagree with that having encountered some, just a few ,in my 54 years. The Bible says for a Christian "Out of the body,at home with the Lord" That I do believe, but there are a lot of non-Christians about. The diciples and Jesus mention a difference between "spirits" and demons. They were encountering the demonic a lot with Jesus and yet when they saw Him walking on the water they were afraid and thought He was "a ghost".They knew the difference between a ghost and a demon for sure.In Luke 24 Jesus says "Handle me and see,a spirit does not have flesh and bone as you see I have".
I'm not sure why people stay on this plane sometimes, but I think it is too simplistic,to think of just heaven and hell.Although there is no scriptual reference to purgatory maybe people have to work certain things out before they move on ,I don't know.I've seen a couple and they just were not demonic they just seemed wandering or stuck here.

Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 says: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol [the grave], the place to which you are going.” Similarly, Psalm 146:3, 4 states: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. His spirit [life force] goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.” So when people (souls) die, they simply cease to exist.

‘But does not the New Testament teach the immortality of the soul?’ some may ask. Not at all. The New Catholic Encyclopedia admits: “The New Testament remains faithful to this [Old Testament] understanding of death.” In other words, the “New Testament” teaches that the soul dies. Jesus Christ demonstrated that he did not believe that the soul was immortal. He asked: “Is it lawful on the sabbath to do a good deed or to do a bad deed, to save or to kill a soul?” (Mark 3:4)

The immortality of the soul is a teaching that began with Satan to give credence to his lie he told Eve in the Garden of Eden...that if she ate the fruit she would not die.

So, what are these "ghosts" if death is when simply when we cease to exist? It's the demons trying to keep that lie going.

I don't think I can really answer your question. I do not believe in spirits or ghosts. If they existed why don't we see or feel them all the time. My mother died suddenly and I waited for a sign because I knew she was not done here with her life on earth. I am still waiting. I believe your soul goes to heaven and or hell and stays there.

Ghosts and U.F.O.'s are two sides of the same coin: they are demons, supernatural beings doing supernatural things in a natural world. Once they have the attention of these natural beings, they proceed to deceive them (you might notice that the teachings of both spiritism and U.F.O.'s are very similar, including occultism and drug use.)

What really happens to a soul upon death God is VERY clear about: "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). No second life, no coming back here, no lingering around; death, judgment, placement, quickly.

"It is appointed unto man but once to die, after this, the judgment" Hebrews 9:27

Once we die we go where we are going, we do not come back to "Haunt" our former Homes.
Now, while I believe that unconditionally. I have heard many strange things in my Home, where both my mother, and father died; eighteen years apart, but in the same room. The Master Bed Room.

No such thing as ghosts ala the movies.

There are demons, the workers for/of The satan.

Cemeteries and dead people have nothing to do with them-- that is a bit of malarkey put in by writers and story tellers.

Once dead- always dead.

They are evil spirits that do the same thing that Satan the father of lies does, they deceive. The people have gone on but the spirit that imitates them has the job of causing confusion and every evil thing.
