I had the exact same problem. What worked really well for my split ends is before you trim them off, get some good strengthening shampoo or conditioner. I used treseme anti breakage conditioner. It's a little expensive but it comes in big bottles so you don't buy it very often. Use the shampoo or conditioner (or both) for a while and then trim your ends off. Keep using it. It will strengthen your hair and keep split ends from coming back. They won't stay away completely but it makes a big difference! And to help keep them away. When you're brushing your hair, gently work the tangles out from bottom to top. If you try to yank the tangles out the ends will split again! And for silkier waves or curls (I know this because I have your hair type) Use conditioner every time you take a shower. Towel dry your hair, (Squeeze don't rub! If you rub it causes your hair to frizz and causes more split ends!) Then brush your hair with a bristle brush and use a blow dryer while brushing it. I understand you want your hair to look good and want to straighten it all the time but if you do it too much it will fry your hair and make it look bad. So I suggest straightening your hair every other day or so. I hope I was of some help!!

OK let me first say that the straightener is the culprit for the split ends. You need to start with some damage control.the bad ends need to be cut and after that you should visit a salon and get a hair treatment. There are other optins rather than using a straightner every day.Your straight hair can last anywhere from three days up to a week if you dont wash it. There is also hair lotions and leave in conditioner that you can put on your hair before you use heat on it. There is also a more permanent option to get your hair straight. You can relax it.By doing this you'll have straight hair until the relaxer grows out. Here's a tip when you wash your hair:dry it using a paddle brush along with your blow dryer, this will also give you a straight and sleek look.Good Luck!

Not sure about the straightening part, but so many things we apply to 'help' our hair - i.e., color, heat, and chemicals - are damaging. No matter which 'vice' you use to improve the texture of your hair, the best thing I could suggest to improve the health of your hair [and the best thing I've ever used on mine] is a few handfuls of mayonnaise. I put it in my hair when it's dry, work it in well, then wrap it in a cruddy old towel and sleep with it. Next morning a couple of thorough washings takes it out. My hair gets so dry from coloring sometimes that it feels like hay; a few treatments of the mayo within a week's time, and I've got a whole new head of hair. It sounds icky, but it's amazingly good for your hair. :)

well, the only way to get rid of split ends is to trim them off.
after you do that, buy hair products that you can put into your to help protect it and also they sell thermacare heat activated shampoo and conditioner that can help with that.
also, i use a product called got 2b hottie. it's a leave in instant mender that you put on the ends of your hair before you straighten that helps prevent split ends and helps fuse together current ones to make them less noticeable and to help strengthen your hair.
other than that, since you style your hair a lot, when you don't use it try and let your hair dry naturally or give your hair a break one or more times a week and that will help with the damage.
