All girls are different so I suppose it depends. Me personally? I expect the guy I'm with to be able to take care of himself. I'm not going to mother him, pay his bills, and make sure he makes it to work on time. I'm not saying I won't buy him things and do favors for him or surprise him, but I'm not going to take responsibility for him as if he's my kid. I need maturity out of a guy.
Looks aren't everything either. I don't expect my guy to look like Hugh Jackman or any other celebrity, but as long as he takes care of himself I couldn't care less. Personality and intelligence is a must as well. I want someone who can keep my mind stimulated as well as make me laugh.
I hope this helps, but I'm sure my answer will got lost from all the other answers of girls going, "He has to be hawt!" or "Good sex!" (Not that good sex is a bad thing, hehe.)

Maybe you need to change your attitude with girls. If your past actions haven't gotten you anywhere that you don't know what girls want from a guy. You need to do something different.

girls expect respect from guys, a person that will make them feel secure, a guy that will not let their pride control the way the relationship works.

Girls who are looking for a good guy want someone who is generous - who won't make her pay for every date or ask her to buy him things - who is thoughtful and pays attention to her when she speaks. She also wants someone who shares her interests and makes her laugh.
The key is to show respect to a girl. Don't be mean. Tell her why you care aboout her and why you want to get to know her.

somebody who they can trust over anybody.
somebody who can make them laugh like no one else can.
somebody who tells them they're beautiful, not sexy.
somebody who complements them, but not too much.
somebody who won't judge them, & will be their best friend
somebody who won't break their heart.
&& if the guy DOES break her heart...a guy thats WORTH THE PAIN.
somebody that's not embarrased to kiss/hug/say "i love you" in front of their friendz.
somebody who won't let anybody offend, or hurt them.
somebody who they can call their own.

lots of things, make us laugh, don't offer advice when we complain(just nod and make sympathetic noises), offer us your coat when we wear something "HOT" only to freeze our hooters off, be nice to our friends/family etc and balance out the amount of kung-fu/football/car movies with chick flicks, oh yeah offer us chocolate...if you master those things you should be golden!
