Why not broil them?

Since they're "stew meat", they may need to be tenderized first. So marinate them a while in your favorite marinade (the acids in marinade tenderize the meat), then broil them.

If you have any skewers, put them on that - would make it easier to broil them (easier to turn). Good luck!

Noooo, nooo, don't do that. Stewing beef is really tough, it has to be cooked for a long time to tenderize it. Lean stewing beef has no fat so it will be even tougher. You would have to marinate it in a acidic marinade for a while before broiling (I would go with overnight) to tenderize it.

Here's what I would do with it, saute it in some oil in a large pot until the outside is brown. Throw in a handful of chopped onions a can of peeled and chopped tomatoes, and a bottle of dark beer. Add a can of kidney beans, a square of dark chocolate, and some chili powder. (and maybe some cayenne). Then you have chili.

if anything besides the crock pot, make shish kabobs. you'll need sweet onion, cucumber, peppers if you like but remove the seeds. heat grill, skewer ingredients in any random pattern and cook until meat it done. good luck
