I honestly don't think so. bin Laden and Saddam banked on the fact that America, as a culture, no longer has the capacity of patient sacrifice that effectively waging and winning a war requires. When it doesn't come easy...and it doesn't come fast...we pack our bags and head home.

Sadly, as we get further and further from 9/11, they are being proven right.

No, I do not believe it can. Especially with the brown shirt democrats in control. They cannot decide where their nose is in relation to their anus. We have not won a war since WWII. We didn't win in Korea, in Vietnam, Somalia, or the Gulf war. We are a nation divided. The only way this nation will ever be strong enough to combat any problem is to be partially destroyed. Even then I am not sure it can win. We have come to a point in time where the nation is weak and in disarray. When Congress is against the President, when the Generals and Admirals can go against their commander [president] in the open media. There is a major problem. When I was in the military [AF] if this had occurred, the officer would have been tried for treason and hung. Today, we have no manufacturing base in this nation to hold up any mass continued conflict. We depend on too many other nations, many which are not friends, to supply our military goods. Did you know the Mre's [meals ready to eat] our military eat are made by France. No nation in the world will back us, including England, due to our waffling and the conflict between the upper branches of government. The can't as they can be left in the clutch. Look at Tony Blair of England. He is in deep doodoo for backing President Bushes plans for Afghanistan and Iraq. I do not know how old you are. I am 65, served in the AF during Vietnam. Been there, done that. The people in this nation are too spoiled. Even the poor in this nation are wealthy in relation to most of the rest of the world.
One thing I can say for sure. If this nation does not realize the existing war is not only in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is a world war. It is a war between the followers of Islam and the Judeochristian peoples. Islam is a religion of hate and their goal is to destroy any and all who do not believe in the teachings of Muhammad. They want to destroy you, believe it. They do not have to come, they are already here.
Be careful out there and learn all you can.

That is an interesting question. I think the US is in a sad state at the moment, and I don't see it getting any better any time soon. The economy is on the way down. Our debt is just crazy! The political system needs to be shaken up! Our government just doesn't work anymore, I thought I lived in a democracy! I think we need to be careful to keep hold of our lead status. We may screw the US up so much that another country will surpass us.

Yes, of course, America can win any war you put in our path!
The problem is the type of war we are to be waging. We don't do too well with terrorists. We have a trusting nature & can't imaging sending a child out with a bomb strapped to them to be blown up in a crowd! It's cowards that we have a problem defeating, ones who will not stand up & fight like humans. Sorta had the same problem with the American Indian, until by sheer majority of white eyes against lesser #'s of native people caused defeat to the Indian. Please, I am part native American on both sides of my family tree!

Winning a war and properly administering an occupancy in another country are different things. We won against the iraqi military fairly quickly. Getting the country to behave after the war is the problem.

Britain had the same problem in Afghanistan 100 years ago.

The US administration feels that if we're to suffer terrorist attacks, better it be in another country against armed troops.

yes we can.

If you didn't know, we won the war in Iraq. The major battles are over, and we are the one standing tall. Now its just reconstruction period.

If we unite together, and forget this Republican and Democrat bs, we can win any war!

Yeah; but they need to start with a few warm up countries first.

Take out Haiti or maybe Belize and then work your way up to bigger countries after you have a few practice wars under your belt.

Sarcasm alert Sarcasm alert.

Nobody wins a war, just a lot of people dead that didn't need to be.

we will win a war when we go in for the right reasons such we did when we went to war in WWII, not for made up reasons just to go

U.S. cannot win a war, because, If you don't kill the people you won't win. Our soilders kill the enemy in war, and what do they do, put them in jail.
