Your first clue that something was wrong should have been that this person was willing to work out a payment agreement for that amount of money with someone he doesn't even know. I've been an ebayer for years and I don't know of any of them that would do that. You (as you already know) got scammed big time.
I just did a reverse phone number look up on www.superpages.com the results are as follows 864-634-7104 is a cell based number in Anderson, SC registered carrier is Bellsouth Mobility. Hope that helps.

THIS SUCKS! If you paid via paypal, file a fraud thing.
If you didn't pay via paypal there are still other options.
Ideally, you paid with your credit card in which case you just REVERSE THE CHARGES and go to bed.
The phone number doesnt mean crap.
I bought my son a pay as you go cell phone from walmart. It was 40 bucks including 300 minutes.
So let that go and try to focus on some other clues that you might have.
He had to pick up your money from somewhere.
If you mailed it, now we have POSTAL FRAUD
if you western unioned the money (more later phone ringing on this end I will edit this later )

I don`t know , but in general if something seems like it`s incredibly cheep than it is stolen or you are being ripped off. You need to only deal with credible businesses. It may cost more but there is less chance you will be a victim of fraud. I doubt you will ever catch this guy. If you paid through pay pal your transaction may be insured up to $1000 in which case you might get all your money back but if you paid other ways you may be out of luck.

oh no I was just going to get one off e-bay ha I change my mind now,but you should be able to go through e-bay because they have his address and all his info.send an e-mail to e-bay asap,if it was a credit card transaction e-bay or pay pal will refund you the money right back from there account,so don't give up,I know for sure if you used paypal you will get that money back up to $5000.

Contact the police. They'll follow up on the cell phone. But it may be difficult to track down - it may be a pay-as-you-go service.

Take your problem to ebay and their dispute department. It's wrong of you to post someones name and number. On ebay it is buyer beware; you are putting a lot of trust in someone you don't know anything about.

You should probably take that up with ebay, not here. But if you try whitepages.com it might be able to tell you with a reverse search. Good luck.
