I'm adding a gas fireplace. I already have a red brick wall in the room next to the fireplace. (other walls are wainscotting and painted drywall). A local stone and brick store employee said that if you already have a geometric brick or stone in the room, it doesn't look good to mix in a non-geometric stone veneer. Assuming that is true, how would mixing in another completely different geometric stone veneer fit in? My red brick is 100 years old and can't be matched. Or any other ideas. I also have brick red pavers on the floor. I'm afraid of adding too many elements.

don't listen to the brick salesperson. go with what looks good to you. if you've ever been to europe or england or any country which has an ancient civ. you'll see brick, stone, concrete, etc. all mixed up. so go with what pleases YOU.
