i made plans on monday to meet up (in a public place) with a girl tonight that i met online. then today she told me her friends were going to be there..isn't that going to be awkward? i dont want to be judged by them the whole time. and i'm not going to bring my friends bc i'm not sure if she's fat/ugly/dorky. what would you do? would you go or tell her to drop her friends for our first date? that's not too much to ask is it? hanging out with her friends the second time we meet up would be fine..but not the first! am i right? thanks.

Sure it's ok, she doesn't know you she doesn't trust you!

The nice thing about people you meet on line is that there are SO many of them. If you ask me (and in a kind of an open way you did) you're putting too much emphasis on formality.

Digital relationships are artificially intimate because you're connecting with another human being on an intellectual level (which is much deeper than you usually get until you've had several dates). It leads us to connect dots that sometimes aren't there. I suspect that if this is your first f2f she may feel there is safety in numbers. You may have inaccurately assumed that her friends will be judging you. If you've exchanged pictures, they've already seen you and have formed an opinion on your cuteness quotent. They are likely as curious as she is and she is likely more curious than you.

For me the bottom line would be, well, the bottom line. I'm happy to go meet my date. My confidence will not be undermined by those with whom she rolls. But if she mistakenly believes that the whole crew will be livin large on my debit card she is welcome to have a girl's night out while I return to my laptop and bacholerette #2.

Good luck!

It's probably a trust issue, but she could've had them sit somewhere and kinda keep an eye on ya'll without you knowin or something. The public place is of course a good idea, but if she just feels better about havin her girls there, then they should do their own thing away from ya'll. Them bein there makes it awkward for ya. Or hell, bring some of your friends now and see how she likes it
