The right meds?

I want to know whether Dotheipin Hydrochloride and Chlorpromazine are regularly used in the treatment of Bi-polar disorder, anyone know?

I don't think either one is very commonly used these days, although they would be appropriate meds for BP. They are both older medications. The first is a tricyclic antidepressant (one I have to admit I've actually never heard of before) and the other is generic Thorazine (an older atypical antipsychotic that can have rather significant side effects). I'd have to say that neither one is a typical first line of defense with bipolar, but if you have tried many other meds and have not had success with them, then it makes sense. If you have not tried other, newer meds, I would be very wary of being prescribed these two. I co-run a bipolar support group (& am BP) and medications are a frequent topic of conversation, so I am familiar with the more commonly used meds.

but on some it works, for others it does nothing but make it worse..
i suggest you talk to your doctor hun and see whats best for you.

I don't know, I don't recognize them by those names. I have Bipolar II and I take meds, but if no one else knows, you might do your question over and put the regular name of them.
