If the government wants them here???

The purpose of the Border Patrol is to halt Illegal Immigration and drug smuggling. However, the U.S. Attorney and the Office of Border Patrol in Washington D.C. does not want the job done. Just look at the case of Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos as well as the most recent case in Naco Arizona. The agents are being persecuted for doing their jobs. Countless others are being fired for not pursing. The agents of the United States Border Patrol are damned if they do and damned if they don't. It is time for the general public to call Chief David V. Aguilar at 202-344-2050 and tell him to uncuff these agents and allow the job to be done. The Mexican consulate should not dictate how the United states Border Patrol is run nor how U.S. Immigration laws are enforced!

It's not the border patrols fault - I live in a area with a large illegal community. The border patrol one day picked up a guy who was acting strangely when they drove by him - and they were cited for "picking on the guy" or stereotyping. So when the border patrol is handcuffed from the job they are supposed to do.....it's not fair. The cops in Mount Vernon Washington don't even arrest illegal aliens when they pull them over - saying it's not up to them? so who is it up to.?....

That's a very good question, and even when they do try to protect our borders they get sent to prison. It seems to me there is some more questions left unanswered on what we are really provided for Mexico. Why do we have a fence also? These are questions that I would (have wrote) to our local government on this. This is the only way to get your question (maybe not answered) but if everyone applied this simple question to our government that would start to put the pressure on. Sorry really don't know.

That's a really great question. The majority of american citizens don't want to be inundated with illegal aliens, but the government has been kind of slow to react to the concerns of the public, which is why a lot of citizens' groups have had to sort of rally independently and take issue with the problem with their states' governments. I think a lot of progress has been made on the problem, and as border maintenance improves, and more positive progress is seen on things like employer/jobsite enforcement, the problem of illegal immigration will abate...until the next time that some of our politicians get inspired to try to implement some more of their high-handed social engineering.
Always pays to read a newspaper, from time to time...and know who your representatives are...

I guess that the border patrol is just there to count them as they cross the border so that the government knows how many are here.

I applaud all of you for some very excellent responses. This is the sort of post that "pro-illegals" won't touch with a 10-foot pole, and if they do, the argument they always use is the "race card", which is getting so old. They have no logical rebuttal to this and they know it!!!
It's so amusing, you won't see one respond to this, but if someone makes a post that mentions racism, there are 20 or 30 responses within a half hour. It's so easy to play the race card, and they know better than to acknowledge and try to argue some of the facts in this post!!

We should really build a large fortress wall that has land mines and barb wires in front of the wall, with M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun emplacements manned by US Marines and US Army troops with some Marine Corps snipers armed with M82 Barrett heavy sniper rifles. It's our soveriegn right to protect our borders against the illegal Mexican Indio hordes. Let immigration/USCIS do all the paperwork. We have over 40,000 US Army troops and Airmen gaurding the DMZ in South Korea along with thousands more in Japan and there haven't been a real single military conflict with North Korea in over 50 years. So we should build a large wall fortress over here manned by our Marines and Soldiers. It worked for the Roman Army stationed in Briton against the Picts from Caledonia and the ancient Imperial Chinese against nomadic Asiatic barbarian raiders like the the GoTurks, Khitans, Jurchens, Mongols, Tartars, Manchus etc.
