The events in Genesis do not have to be taken literally. Furthermore, everyone alive on the earth today is descended from one black woman according to DNA evidence. Scientists also think we are descendants of one man as well. This is known as the "Out of Africa theory". So at best, Evolution also says we all came from one woman and one man.
The idea of a talking serpent does not have to be taken literally. The Bible is filled with parable and metaphor. The events of Eden represent humankind's disobedience to God and their separation from Him.
Jesus died for all sins, not merely "original sin".

You are making an assumption that if Evolution is true and Adam and Eve never existed then A and B are still true. If Adam and Eve never existed, and evolution is true, then you can throw out the rest of the stuff (or not).
If evolution is right, it doesn't prove that God doesn't exist, but it certainly makes it a heck of a lot less likely. Thus original sin is merely a concept designed by man. And Jesus died as a MAN, not as the son of God to forgive our sins.

Adam and Eve did exist- but if they did not, and we were the first people that evolved (which I do not believe, by the way)- then the first person who evolved would begin the original sin- He died for the sin of a human. Your theory that evolution would get rid of sin, is erroneous- people are people and people sin- I am glad to know that I came from another human, instead of a monkey though- think about it.

Well this is a very good question. I say that even if they didn’t exist, which is an option the church may accept under certain conditions, original sin could still have existed. The story is a symbolism of how man disobeyed god in the fist place. We can't tell if this man was Home sapiens, or Home erectus or whatever (most likely former as he is the more intelligent one.) In all cases man left the grace of God and chose to sin....etc
Jesus died to make the ultimate reunion between man and God who broke apart due to sin. Why the son of God, because he was both Human and Divine. I also believe that Jesus died (but later rose) to teach us ultimate love. The love God has for us, which he showed by how God sent His son to die for the sake of his sinful slaves. Amen...

Evolutionary theory does not begin to deny Adam and Eve Theory. It complements it. Think about it...
Picture the evolutionary path of all creatures, from the tiniest virus (everyone knows that a virus will adapt to self-survival if it is attacked by actually changing and becoming stronger and more resistant) to the wooly mammoth (everyone knows that the African elephant and the Asian elephant are not as big and hairy as the ice age wooly mammoths).
Picture the "survival of the fittest" concept.
Now picture dominant genetic lines (the easiest way is the purple/white flower example in every high school biology book).
If one tracked the history of Homo sapiens vs. the history of evolving Neanderthals, one will see that at one point in human history, Homo sapiens just "appeared", first in a little-known area of Africa, then more predominantly in the Middle East, then world-wide. All other species of human-like development were completely eradicated within a relatively short time span, as compared to the "millions" of years between the age of one bone to the age of the next "evolved" human bone.
How does one think such a dominant genetic line just appears here on Earth? It wasn't magic.
Hence, original sin (a Catholic concept, by the way) is really a disruption in the dominant genetic line that is able to be passed on to future generations. It affects the ability and capacity for recognizing God's Light, but not the CHOICE to respond back to it.
Jesus had no guile. When He was mad, He was mad. When He was healing, He didn't want glory or front page announcements. When He died, there was not a single cell in His body that Lucifer was able to recognize as his own. Lucifer has three days to search, too. Lucifer could not hold that Child because there were no holds to grasp. Jesus died to let us know that. When He said we (yes, that means you, too) would do all He did and more, it was an invitation to rid ourselves of guile, along with other spiritual concepts I won’t get into right now.
The conflict between evolution, whether capitalized as theory or merely mentioned in conversation, is not a conflict God is happy about. It is a misunderstanding of what was originally TRUTH. And who can twist TRUTH for self-serving (human-confusing!) purposes better than ol' Lucifer?
I do not mean to offend anyone with this answer. My hope is that we Children of Light begin the search for real TRUTH by starting a one-on-one relationship with God rather than looking to other equally human humans for our answers. No one walks the same walk and we all have different lessons to learn.
Peace!

Evolutionary theory says that there should have been many mothers transferring their genes to their offspring and thus a large difference should be available for study among the different races of mankind.
Science proved that all of mankind had only 1 mother and thus a limited number of genes.
a)The original sin occurred when Eve disobeyed her husband and God by eating of the forbidden fruit and Adam sinned because he listened to his wife and joined her in the rebellion against Jehovah's Sovereignty.
b) Jesus died to prove that a perfect man could kept his integrity to Jehovah and thus settling the issue involving Jehovah's Sovereignty and to provided the basis for the Ransom threw his shed blood. Giving all of mankind the opportunity to be 1) to those who have died, a Resurrection in the New System of Things. 2) to give to the survivors of Armageddon that they too, can have the same hope as the resurrected ones, the hope of eternal life on a paradise earth.

Women have a unique genetic marker called mDNA. Using it, science has traced back to the 4th generation woman, whom they chose to call Eve. FYI.
Adam and Eve, borrowed from Gilgamesh Epic and the Babylonian Genesis represent the reality of the human condition. That condition exists from before us and engulfs us. Thus Jesus came as the Son of MAN - we are all children of God - to set us free and complete creation.

Why believe in 'original sin'? A lot of m,isfortunes considered 'sin's' can be used as learning devices, inst6ead of reason's for low self-esteem.
There are other half-God, half-human deities that go through death for the sake of humans. It's a morality tale to seperate God from humans but still saying/showing that humans are 'special'.

evolution does not deny adam and eve, there had to be some pre human ancestors of the human race, adam and eve would have been part of this or perhaps would have been part of some sub-population of hominids that were isolated somehow and evolved to the point that they could no longer interbreed with the parent group and (eventually) became homo-sapien

You are correct, it is a scientifically proven fact that all humans trace their origin back to one female, scientist quite correctly call her EVE!
