I go to East Side Animal Hospital, they are located on 52nd and 2nd avenue, they are really good. I would say to get an ear drop at a pet store and if that doesn't clear him up to take him to the vets. You should also regularly cleanse his or her ears with an ear alcohol solvent and a swab. You can get this at a pet store as well.

I worked at a Vets office grooming dogs and he made me up a solution of stuff that works like a charm as an ear cleaner. You mix 1 part 70% rubbing alcohol -to help dry up the ear canal.
1 part apple cider vinegar- the healing agent.
1 part water- a dilution.
If the ear is raw and red this solution will burn and be pretty painful. You will have to go to the dog and not expect him to come to you knowing you will be inducing pain. YOU go to HIM.
Fill one ear canal with solution and massage at the base of the ear down below the ear, You will hear the swissh, swosh as you massage. Don't allow the dog to shake it's head until after you have massaged it a bit to loosen all the crap out of there. Let him shake his head. Repeat with other ear.
Do this every day, twice a day.
I used this as a regular ear wash on all the dogs I groomed and cleaned up some problems, infection to mites.
My Chow X gets ear infections in the warmer weather and he comes to me to do something about it., head shakin', whinnin', with a pleaful face. He has learned that it works and know where to get help.

You can't treat an ear infection by yourself. Your dog needs to see a vet so he can take a swab to determine the source of the infection in order to give you antibiotics that will work. You really can't delay - ear infections are pretty painful.

Sorry, I live in NC but my lab gets ear infections all the time and the vet is always giving me an antibotic to put in it and then an ear wash to h elp keep it clean. A dog will not complain about his being in pain. If he is complaining, then definitley get him to the vet because it could get very serious.

You really need to take her to the vet to find out what type of ear infrection she has. But usually you need the antibiotic ear drops or oral antibiotics. After that make sure you clean them a regular basis. My Lab gets chronic ears infections so I always have to keep his ears clean.

It might not be an ear infection. It might be a yeast infection, or allergies to her food(especially if you buy her food at a grocery store),it could be a number of things.Either way,I would recomend that you don't try to treat it on your own.
