I'm not sure most DO. I think the majority of people today ultimately decide for themselves as to their beliefs in God, as opposed to blindly accepting what someone else tells them. But I also think if a parent takes the spiritual training of their family's religion seriously, usually the children will, too.

Actually, about 60% of people settle with a religion different from the one they were raised with, if any.

Many, many people switch religions.
Often times their parents were so into their religion that the children resent it for feeling force fed it.

Because most people are brainwashed as kids that to abandon their parents' faith will cause bad things to happen to them and they will subjected to eternal punsihment in the afterlife.

B/c of familiarity (no pun intended).
I was raised Catholic, along with many of my friends. Only a few of the are still Catholic because they haven't thought of exposing themselves to any other way of believing. "It's the way I was raised and I am used to it."
It's only when we expose ourselves to something other than what we know, will we open our minds to the real world around us.
(BTW..I am now Baptist, and couldn't be happier!)

well you have to remember that they were taught that religion sice they were a child, and have gone through (if any) traditions that the specific religion goes through, so it can be hard to break from that religion when you were raised around it your whole childhood.

In part because of social pressure to conform and not realizing there are other valid options.

I think most people do which is very sad. It shows that they have not looked at the big picture and very likely they have chosen unwisely.
