Hepatitis B is less easily transmitted than Hepatitis A. Transmission is by coming in contact with infected blood,or blood products. This is most common among IV drug users ,sharing needles etc. Also is transmitted between sex partners, both heterosexual, and homosexual .A pregnant women are capable of infecting her fetus in utero, and while giving birth through the vagina. Many cases of Hepatitis B have no known source, healthy people can carry this virus and not be infected, but able to infect others. Prevention with Hep-B is not coming in contact with blood of a known carrier, using safe sex practices with everyone, never share needles or have any sex with known IV drug user. There are several types of Hepatitis,A,B,C,D,E. Medical care givers usually receive the vaccine to guard against infection from Hep-B .Hepatitis A is transmitted by infected body fluids like saliva, but primarily by feces, poor hygiene practices and contaminated shellfish.Take care.
