because one... people cant think outside their own boxes.. and two because they want to see the people who didnt follow their faith get "the smack down".

The only way human life, the life of each human adult. could be "sacred" were if the universe were some vast scripted performance and every individual were sent here fully programmed to perform exact acts, dialogue etc. That's idiotic as an assumption of course.
Those who hold such beliefs offer no proofs; and they're wrong. That's why the impracticality of otherworldism--beliefs that space-time is other than it is or that there's a much better or worse alternative universe after life, or during-- don't work on Earth when you try to practice them.
The religious used to take action--and go into monasteries. That action of leaving Earth was moral--appropriate to another universe, which they approximated until they could leave Earth; it was ethical--a free decision made by each person with no crimes toward anyone involved; and practical--they lived as they thought they should be living and were no problem to anyone.
Now, look at what happens when people who say they don't belong on Earth stay around to mess it up? They cause irresponsible overpopulation, they have caused global warming by ignoring the real needs of the eco-system, they have caused all the wars in history whether they were following those who claimed to speak for a god or god-playing postmodernists who ignored reality to try to get away with a power grab.
As for the "rapture", I assert that it is a nonsensical idea. The proof? All we have to do is wait twelve years--until it doesn't happen. Then the credibility of those preaching the idea will be what their proof always was--a big fat zero. One checks ideas back against reality--not against the beliefs of hypocritical and non-practicing otherworldists. Just the way you're doing it now.

Your 2 statements are not mutually exclusive. In other words, your statement is illogical. Ignoring Overpopulation doesn't mean that the same person will or will not be looking forward to the rapture just as saying life is sacred is not the same as stating a position on overpopluation (however this is more closely tied to the premise) or the rapture. If we're all dead - what difference does it make if we are overpopulated?

Life is sacred. The planet as a whole is not overpopulated - we just need to develop our resources and come up with workable creative solutions. You talk like the rapture is some sort of cessation of life. I look forward to the rapture because of being reunited with Christ, seeing God's plan of the ages fulfilled in kicking satan out of being "prince of the air" and ushering in a new age. Life is still there and still sacred.

Life is a sacred gift God has given to us. Unless you have the Spirit in your heart, you are not sacred. People do not look forward to the rapture, but the return of Christ. Overpopulation is not ignored by anyone, and cannot be helped (unless you want the US to become a second Asia). the world will only get as populated as God wants it to before Jesus comes back.

Actually, the rapture would be a continuation of life for a Christian. A better life, when Jesus comes to get you and all of His followers instead of experiencing death. I really don't think anyone should ask a question like this unless they have really studied the Bible as a whole and specifically, the Rapture. Upon study, that is where a lot of the understanding will be accomplished.

Because they're only paying lipservice to their beliefs instead of living by them. They don't mind the part about being indignant and self righteous about life being sacred because that means they get to argue and be intolerant, but don't actually care enough to worry about overpopulation/starvation/quality of life.

The earth is not even remotely close to overpopulation. The entire population of the earth could easily fit inside the state of Kansas, and each person would have 86 square feet to themselves.

It's a lazy cop-out. Life IS sacred and there are a thousand ways we should promote life without focusing on any one issue.
