Hi there. Parakeets must have successful copulation to have fertile eggs. Be sure to give her a pellet diet, fresh fruits and veggies and limit seeds to 10%, add chopped hard cooked egg with the crumbled shell for the extra calcium and protein needed. The eggs are pretty fragile. If you do handle them,be sure to wash your hands to keep your skin oils off the eggs so that the porous shells will not get clogged. That way oxygen can get through. You can candle them with a strong flashlight. If you see what looks like a network of red veins, then she has mated and in about 20 days from the last egg laid, you may get chicks. If they are infertile, be sure she gets 12 hours of darkness every day because more light can trigger egg production. Remove one egg a week so that she won't instinctively lay more due to what can be perceived as loss from a predator. Good luck and may you find your answer. Have a tweet year.

parakeets lay eggs like chickens regardless of if no longer fertile. in case you dont desire a huge gamble of toddler birds then in basic terms take the eggs out in couple days after she lays them. additionally in case you haven't any longer have been given a cuttlebone for the girls persons to nibble on then you definately could get one becuse the calcium is what make the exterior of the eggs.

Usually, there is not a good chance of them being fertile. I had a parakeet who laid eggs...but they never hatched. You just have to wait and see.

If you don't have a male inthe c age they will not be fertile. My mom's bird used tolay eggs all the time and she would guard them until I finally talked my mom into getting rid of all but one. just leave the eggs alone for a while. she may sit on them, but just leave her alone then one day you can manage to get rid of maybe one at the time

Ok.....well, if you have a male parakeet, then the odds are 1 of them will probably hatch....she will also probably lay more. When you do get a baby parakeet, just let the parents take care of it. After about 2 weeks they will have quite a few feathers.

First they need a male to be fertile..second do not remove them until she stops sitting on them as it can cause her to keep laying thus, making her calcium drop & she can easily become depleted of valuable calcium in her system & this can eventually kill her.
