There is no such thing as 'prison language' however there are terms that prisoners use and outsiders don't ie/ a 'shiv' is a home made knife, guards and police are usually called 'pigs'

They do this as they have their 'own' world in there, I suppose..

I think they just call it slang (don't know for sure) I use to work in the prison telecommunications industry (wierd huh?) I did find this fun site while looking it up.

there is no prison language,but a good majority of inmates are illiterate,or at least very underschooled and use slang and words picked up in everyday life.
as for those of you who like to criticize and poke fun at these people-be careful.....i could be your neighbor....

there is prison lauguage and only prisnors know what the words mean they make sure gaurds or any authorities don't understand the lauguage,like many kid don't want parents to understand slang or ebonics.like computer slang(lol,wtf,lmao you know what I mean.

Typically its slang words that are used and they are different depending on which institution/jail your in.
