Asthma has nothing to do with dogs. ALLERGIES have to do with dogs. If you are allergic to dogs, you are actually allergic to the dander in their fur and basically no dog will be completely allergy-free. Chihuahuas and other short-short haired dogs are your best bet.

There's no guarantee that you can have any kind of dog if you suffer from allergy related asthma. If you are allergic to dogs, you need to stick with a breed that has a very short coat and doesn't shed a lot. I would suggest a boxer if you're looking for a purebred or any mutt from the animal shelter that has a short coat. Before you buy or adopt a dog, you need to spend some time around it and get up really close to it, to see if it triggers your asthma (make sure you have an inhaler handy). You should really talk to your doctor about this as well, because the doctor may recommend staying away from dogs altogether.

There isn't one breed which suits everyone suffering from asthma. You need to find an understanding breeder who will allow you to spend a number of hours with their dogs to see whether you have a reaction to that breed.
Here's a list of dogs generally considered to be hypoallergenic:
Airedale Terrier
Basenji
Bedlington Terrier
Bichon Frise
Border Terrier
Cairn Terrier
Chinese Crested (hairless)
Havanese
Kerry Blue Terrier
Maltese
Miniature Schnauzer
Portuguese Water Dog
Puli
Shih-Tzu
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Spanish Water Dog
Standard Poodle
Standard Schnauzer
Tibetan Terrier
Toy Poodle
West Highland White Terrier
Wirehaired Fox Terrier
Yorkshire Terrier
You will see that the so-called Labradoodle isn't mentioned because it is not a breed, it is a crossbreed & there is no guarantee that it will not inherit the Labrador coat rather than that of the Poodle.

Usually those who do not shed hair - but it's not always the case. Spend some time with a litter of pups from the breed you are considering. If you take on a little dog and you find it affects your health, you'll be heartbroken if you have to part with it. Speak to any breeder of the type you are considering and explain your situation. I'm sure they'll be sympathetic and offer you the opportunity to see if you are asthmatic when spending some time with them. Do some background work before committing.

It depends on whether or not your asthma is triggered by a reaction to dogs....I had a test at my local asthma clinic..free of charge...I am allergic to house dust and cats but not to dogs...my two spaniels do not affect me at all but my cat does slightly....check first, if you asthma is not triggered by dogs then you can have any breed at all.

Any dogs unless you have dog allergies.
If you are concerned about shedding, get a poodle, or a poodlemix breed that is less likely to shed badly and avoid dogs like collies and shepards that shed a lot.
There is a dog breed they mixed a cocker spaniel with a poodle creating a cockapoo, then mixed the cockapoo with the terrier to create the cockapoo terrier, this is the most mellow even tempered dog, and does not shed a get deal.

any dogs. I have 2 lhasa apsos, a shih tzu, a border collie, lurcher, cavalier king charles spaniel, tibetan spaniel and a yorkie. I also have 10 cats and lots of parots. I have ashtma too but I am not allergic to animals, House dust mites, pollen and mould spores affect me. You need to find out first exactly what you are allergic to. If you aren't allergic to dogs, then it won't affect your asthma.

I was a chronic sufferer of asthma from age 3 till I decided when I was 40 that I wasn't going to have it anymore.
So I threw away the medication and haven't looked back since. It's all in the power of the mind.If you believe then it will happen,........Then you can have which ever type of dog you desire. TRUST.
