I have a 12 week old long coat chihuahua. She was born approximately 3-1/2 oz at birth (11/15/06) and is now (2/3/07) 3-1/2 - 4 lbs. Sire was 4 1/2 lbs (4th generation of champion line) and dam was 6 lbs. Breeder says she'll probably get about 5-1/2 or 6 lbs. I've had a previous smooth coat reindeer chi and they said the same thing but he got to be almost 10 lbs. Anyone have any idea?

i breed chi's, mine are right at 4 1/2 lbs full grown. but you can have them weigh 8-9 lbs. show dogs can be no more than 6 lbs. it depends on their ancestry. there could have been a larger one in the line. i know some people will take a larger than normal female and a small male so they can get more puppies at one breeding. that can cause a larger one in a line too. good luck its unperdictable..

You can usually double the weight at 3 mo. Your chi should weigh 7-8 lb.

She's not going to get much bigger than 7 pounds. We got our Chihuahua from a breeder and family friend--she never got a Chihuahua any larger than 9 pounds. Our Chihuahua got to 8 pounds and was extraordinarily overweight.

Well, according to "Legacy of the Dog", chihuahuas way from 2-4 pounds on average and are about 5 inches tall, for both male and female.

Question,,, are the pups parents CHAMPIONS? or just the ancestors? if you went to a reputable breeder please trust the breeders judgement..... they know their lines
