This is a tried and true recipe that was passed down from my grandma to my mom and now to me...I LOVE them, but it seems so simple! The secret to keeping them soft is also in this recipe!
2 cups all-purpose flour/1 cup all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening (crisco)
1 cup milk
Preheat your oven to 500*. Combine the 1st 3 ingredients and work in the shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the milk and stir together until well mixed. The dough should be soft and wet.
Pour the remaining 1 cup of flour into a bowl. Flour your hands and dip your hand into the wet dough- pulling off a biscuit sized portion of dough. Roll the piece of dough lightly in flour and roll it gently into a smooth ball in the palm of your hand. The inside should remain wet.
Place, lightly touching each other in a lightly greased 9 in round pan or baking sheet and pat slightly to flatten a little. Bake until lightly browned (about 10 minutes)
These are sooooo yummy!
Hope this helps!

I agree with the Foodnetwork.com Paula Dean's recipe. I have made them several times. I don't care for biscuits....but because these have yeast I thought I would try. Everyone LOVES them. I warn you....the recipe makes a TON of biscuits. My recommendation is to half the recipe but use all of the yeast. I have done that twice and they are perfect! Enjoy!

Go to Foodtv.com. Go to Paula's home cooking site. She made some a week or 2 ago and they looked really good. They had yeast in them but you didn't have to let then rise. I haven't tried them yet but plan to soon. There are alot of good recipes on there. Good Luck.
