The whitish color on the chocolate is harmless. It is called bloom, and it occurs when the chocolate has been exposed to air for a prolonged period of time. If you're eating the chocolate as-is, it's fine. If you're melting it down to make a dip or coating, or as an ingredient in something else, it may affect the color, but the taste and safety is fine any way you have it.

That whitish coating is called "bloom", and it often happens when the chocolate is stored at "non-room-temperature" (ex. too hot).

It is probably just fine - one sniff or nibble will tell you for sure. However, it may have dried out a bit, so be careful if you're going to use it in a recipe, or going to melt it.

I've used "bloomed" chocolate before and it worked. Good luck!
